Description

Proverbs 31:10 - 31

A virtuous woman, her price far greater than rubies...

I'd like a wife like that.

The kanji in the background says

良妻 【りょうさい】 ryousai, meaning "Good Wife and Wise Mother"

Someone to help me grow Spiritually :)

This came about while I was watching Paul Washer's sermon on a virtuous woman yesterday.

As for you ladies out there :) Work on it hehehe!

If you know you want a good husband you will know what to do, or find out.

Wish I could do a better background... anyways, God bless you

I'd love to be that wife too for my husband! thank you for illustrating this awesome passage. Just noticed you mentioned you were listening to one of Paul Washer's sermons too :) great stuff

Not sure if you have heard of Joe Fleener, he is one of the lecturers from Hastings, New Zealand (Shepherds Bible College), he was preaching at our church up here on this passage couple of Sundays ago. I thought it was very exciting so I thought you might enjoy a brief summary of what was explained...maybe this is what Paul Washer was talking about too, I haven't heard that particular message from him.

Basically, Joe was saying the book of Proverbs is addressed to a young man, and likewise the "oracle of King Lemuel" was advice to a young man rather than a young woman. Therefore, the rhetorical question to "find" a woman of virtue is in fact a challenge to the man who is married to her. The Prov 31 woman is not just "somewhere out in the world" and the young man just has to discover her first. In fact, if he actually did "discover" her, the Proverbs 31 woman would already be married to her own husband, and be an older woman with her own family (and therefore not available!). Rather, by the Holy Spirit and obedience and encouragement of a Proverbs 31 man towards her over a lifetime of marriage, a Proverbs 31 woman is gradually "found."

What an exciting and hopeful passage! I hope it will continue to guide us by pointing us to God, both myself/husband, and you and your future wife.
